Teacher Assessed Grades

This year students will receive grades awarded and determined by their teachers, with students only assessed on what they have been taught   as outlined by the DfE. Teachers will draw on a range of evidence when determining grades, including the optional use of questions provided by exam boards, as well as mock exams, coursework, or other work completed as part of a pupil’s course, such as essays or in-class tests.

The approach that we are taking at The Avon Valley School is to assess our students on smaller ‘chunks’ of learning on a regular basis, through a set of tests designated as ‘Standards Tests’.

Students will complete three sets of standards tests, each set of tests will take place over a week. Each subject will set one paper of either 60 or 90 minutes.

Click here for the link to a document that outlines the content of each of the Standards Tests and an outline of the benchmark and supporting evidence that will be considered when determining the Teacher Assessed Grades.  Please note that Standards tests 1 has already been completed. The second series of tests commence Monday 26th April, the timetable can be found on the Year 11 Google Classroom support page.
