Avon Valley School Student Wins Gymnastics Medal

A Year 11 student from The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College recently won a bronze medal at a national gymnastics event.

Talented gymnast Julia Kaczmarek recently competed in the Women’s Artistic FIG Challenge Qualifier 2021, at Fenton Manor Leisure Complex in Stoke-on-Trent, performing on the beam, bars, vault and floor. At the end of the competition Julia, who was placed first in beam, and second on bars, claimed a bronze medal overall.

This is the latest success for Julia, who has been involved in gymnastics with Rugby Gymnastics Club since she was seven years old, and has recently been told that she has qualified for the competition which will take place next year at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool where she will compete against some of the best gymnasts in the UK.

Alison Davies, Headteacher, said, “It is wonderful to hear about our students’ successes, whether they be in or outside of school. Julia is a very talented gymnast and a wonderful student. Everyone at AVS wishes her all the best for the competition finals.”
