Safeguarding

At The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all students, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where all students are respected and valued. As a school we are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support and protection.

Safeguarding includes child protection, health care plans, health and safety, site security, safety on school trips, anti-bullying work and so much more. The school adheres to Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), the Teacher's Standards (2021) and The Prevent Duty (2023).

Our procedures and policies apply to all staff, volunteers and governors and are consistent with those of Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB). Our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy can be found on the policies section of this website.

The school’s Safeguarding Team consists of: Mrs Laura Bindley (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and Mr Darren Walden (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), Mr Mike Clancy (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead) and Mrs Wendy Fletcher (DSL support).

If you have a concern or are worried about a child, please report your concern using CPOMS or you can contact the DSL or a member of the safeguarding team.
